The filter does have a primer so there’s some frill, but where it differs is the pipe connections. Whilst the connections work perfectly, the filter lacks the complicated valve block that’s becoming pretty standard on externals. Do not however let this put you off, whilst the lack of the valve block saves money and that’s good. It also does not detract in any way from the filters function. With the simple taps there’s actually less to go wrong. A weak point in many modern filters is the valve block, there’s a lot to go wrong with them. Nearly always when a modern filter leaks it will be the valve block.

Well by today’s standards it’s a fairly basic design but, the way in which the filter actually filters is no different than most other filters. The Aqua One Aquis 1250 has snug fitting media baskets it flows bottom upwards. It’s basically a cheaper but just as able filter as many more expensive counterparts.

With a low energy usage of only 28w it stands its ground when you consider the output of 1400 lph. It does have a primer that works well that’s also smooth in operation. Just connect the supplied pipe work and press the primer and its away.

The Aqua One Aquis 1250 lends itself with ease to those that wish to fiddle and tweak with the media set up. Although for those that just want to plug and play its supplied ready to go.
